I am a young attorney and usually have to submit my work for a view from my supervising attorney. When I first started out, I would get drafts back with so much red ink that it looked like a new document. I often felt upset like my entire work was negated and felt embarrassed by the fact that so much was rewritten. But I’ve noticed as time is going on that I have less and less red ink because I took to heart of the comments that my boss gave me. Learning the specific critique or style of my reviewer has helped me greatly and adapt my writing to the point where now I have gotten drafts back with no changes. I think that rewrites are part of any good creative process — just keep your chin up and learn for the future!
