1st time listener! Loved the episode…thanks! I have been kinda following this path with my own new favorite life motto…Chuck It In The Fuk It Bucket & Move On! 🙂 I’m learning to let go of the banana too…i even made a website in honor of this new lifestyle change! lol 😉 I think that I was meant to stumble across this podcast…so weird…but bookmarking you!
Loved the banana story and recently heard the Monk story (clearly, I need several reminders of that lesson – ha!). I recently switched jobs and the new job checks almost all the boxes of what I’ve wanted. I’m so dead set on hitting “perfect” though that I haven’t been enjoying the new job; instead, I’ve been wondering where I go next to get to the “perfect” fit. While I don’t want to lose my ambition, I realize thinking of the “perfect job” as my banana will help me relax a little and enjoy my current ride. I’m really enjoying your podcast. I subscribe to several podcasts, but this one and Happier at Home are the only ones I consistently listen to. (Also, not to mix my episodes, but I’m mid thirties and have been graying since my twenties. I go back and forth on dying my hair for some of the same reasons (feminism, cost, convenience). For inspiration, though, I hop on pinterest and look at gorgeous women with silver hair. Who says only men can hold the title of silver fox?)
My headshots are over 5 years old now (I feel a little better about that knowing yours are from 2007), but I do have them. 🙂
The 2 monks and a woman story is also in Zen Shorts by John Muth. I loved all of his books and my son did too. Jack and Violet might like them. https://www.amazon.com/Zen-Shorts-Caldecott-Honor-Book/dp/0439339111/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501784365&sr=8-1&keywords=zen+shorts
