Inspired by their Shondaland co-workers, Liz and Sarah reject the only-have-one-box approach to office space and embrace decorating. Then Sarah re-frames having to get up at 5 a.m. to write as a “Season of Sacrifice,” an approach she learned from a member of the Happier in Hollywood Facebook Group. Liz shares how her fantasy self and real self merged into one when she went to The Promised Land! That’s right, Liz and Gretchen went to Oprah’s house for a gospel brunch, which means there were celebrity sightings galore! This week’s Hollywood Hack: dry clean your t-shirts. (Seriously. Do it.)

I enjoy the show very much and once in a while hear something I think is so particular to your lifestyles in Hollywood, and perhaps that is the point, to showcase the disconnects to those of us on the outside of that place.

Dry cleaning t-shirts is ludicrous. While you make a case for it, I still can’t help bristle at this tip. Can you seriously not wear something else than t-shirts? And the extra time and effort and money to do this is so decadent.
Decorating office – I have to agree it is so fun to see people’s work spaces. I have not been decorative as I have felt temporary, this gave me a new perspective. Thx!
Love your podcast. You are both fearless. When I was going through a tough time at work, I put points of positivity around the room and on my desk: plants, magnets, pictures, and little plaques with sayings. I put an inspiring picture on the back of my mail box in the workroom. I had been to Hawaii and become enamored with Iz, so I played his music at the beginning and end of my day.
Imagine how pleased I was this Thursday, as I was driving to work, to hear my name mentioned on your podcast. I am deeply amidst my own season of sacrifice, which will end soon and then I will have Thanksgiving week off. I have listened from the very beginning…I always enjoy the happiness tips with a Hollywood flavor. I am so glad that the season of sacrifice idea resonated with you. Plus, extra points for pronouncing my name right–that almost never happens. You made my day!
