With Season Two of Fantasy Island still up in the air, Liz and Sarah have decided to embrace Hiatus Mode! What does that mean? Going to their favorite hiatus restaurants (including Benihana), taking short trips to see friends, and—for Sarah—getting out her spinning wheel. In Take Two, they have MORE great gifts ideas for this holiday season. Thanks, Listeners, for all the suggestions! One popular Item? Salt! Then Liz and Sarah amplify the new season of a podcast that anyone who aspires to be in the entertainment business should listen to—the Catch A Break Podcast. Finally, this week’s Hollywood Hack will help keep your car tidy: the Epauto Waterproof Car Trashcan.

Hi Liz and Sarah, This is completely random, but I have never cared so much about whether or not a TV show is picked up for a second season as I do about “Fantasy Island.” Your podcast is so engaging, and you let us eavesdrop on your friendship so generously, I feel like you’re my friends and I want your show to succeed. Additionally, I’m a novelist and benefit immensely from all the creative topics you tackle. Plus I just like hearing about working in the entertainment biz. Thank you both, and here’s to season 2 of “Fantasy Island”!
Hi Liz and Sarah, I just listened to the new episode – and the hiatus mode resonated so much with me, even if in my case I don’t have a big hiatus once in a while, but smaller pauses – “weeks of reset” – every now and then.
I’m a translator, and in my 15 years of freelance life I really had to learn to appreciate free days or sometimes weeks after finishing a huge project instead of worrying all the time when or if new projects and clients will come my way.
At the start of my career, I drove myself crazy with worry every time I had some free days with no new project in the pipeline.
Now, I really make a conscious effort to make the most of free days, dedicating free time to self-care, meeting friends, exploring new hobbies etc. – and to recharge energy to be prepared for the next busy weeks or months.
Here’s to all the happier hiatus heroes!
All the best from a German HIH listener living and working in sunny Spain!
