What was the name of the hair color product?
Hairprint! Let us know if you try it!
The hair dye is called hairprint!
Horrible boss story: I worked for a woman who managed by intimidation. She used threats and browbeating to control her employees, and taught her underlings to do the same thing. I didn’t deal very well with it, but always enjoyed putting my phone on mute for conference calls and telling her what I thought (passive-aggressive, I know)!
I had another boss who reversed cash payments I took in as a front-desk person and took the money. She seemed to forget that I was also the night-auditor and saw every one she did. I was the one who reported her to management, but never got any acknowledgement for saving the company from her.
Nice! Liz and I have totally utilized the mute button!
I absolutely loved this episode, and after I listened to it, I went straight to the library to check out Sara Gottfried’s book. I’m especially excited to hear that saunas are so good for you, which is something I love. Sometimes I go to the gym in the wintertime JUST for the sauna, which is something I always felt guilty about. Good to know I was doing something healthy for my body even though I was too lazy to get on the treadmill 🙂
We have a two-person sauna in our house, but we haven’t used it much lately. Going to get back in the swing of it now!
Jealous that you love saunas. I dread them– but will do them anyway!
HI Liz and Sara! love love love Happier in Hollywood! You two are terrific! I am an obliger and can totally relate, especially to you Liz. I listen to your podcast with Gretchen too every week!.
I also will check out Sara G. I need this reversing the clock advice as I just reached a milestone birthday that is too scary to mention!
But the real reason for my message was to say thanks for sharing your crazy boss experience, it made me feel better as it is very similar to a situation I am in right now. All the things you mentioned about how it impacts you are so true, worry, stress, lack of sleep. Luckily, after a year, I see some light at the end of the tunnel. I have been using so many of the techniques I’ve heard from Liz, reframing, if you can’t get out of it, get into it…….so I have decided I will do my best and let the chips fall where they may and not worry all the time, as I know I have done nothing wrong, I just walked into a difficult situation I wasn’t fully prepared for. Thanks for always making me smile. You are lucky to have each other as co workers and friends! Cheers! Mary
Reframing is the best!

Hi Liz & Sarah from Sydney, Australia!
Loving your podcast, its a long way from my world, but there are definitely parallels. Along the lines of the Crazy Bosses, I listened to a fantastic podcast recently called How to Spot a Psychopath. I have included the link below if you’re interested.

Fantastic. Thanks!
Liz & Sarah Thank you for this episode and episode #18 so relevant to my life and I love that you bring in experts to discuss aging, diet, exercise, sexual health. Thank you for asking the questions I’d ask. Your podcast is such a wealth of information. Keep up the great work.
Thanks, Ellen! And thanks for listening!
Love the podcast. Think you guys are just great–funny, kind, and with an enjoyable dynamic. I was put off by Sarah saying how you’d put your emergency bag by the door, or “in the closet by your front door.” I know that seems ticky tacky, but my goodness, it was like it wasn’t even possible that someone wouldn’t have a closet by their front door. In my mind I quickly ran through my friend’s houses–professionals all–and most of them don’t have closets by their front door. Just reeked of cluelessness a bit. But, really, I think you guys are great.
Hi Liz & Sarah!
When I think of bad bosses, I thought of my graduate advisors (!!!!) yes, they were ALL bad, o.k. only a handful were supportive and someone I could count on, but the majority of them were awful bosses because :1. grad students worked for them for “free.” 2. We depended on them for our everything and 3. most of them worked in academia (I suspect) because of their personality (let’s face it, working in academia is hardly glory.. if they could, many would probably work for the industry). Just my thought 🙂 Love the show as always!
